Wi-fi Wirless network at a college help?

The college that i attend requires everyones PC to have up to date anti virus software before they can use the internet. You must first connect and when you pull up your internet browser for the first time the system will scan your PC for up to date anti virus software. My question is this: Will i be able to connect to this network with my Blackberry 8900 smart phone and use the network for making UMA calling (tmobile) and such? Anyone have similar cirstances?
