He wanted company while his best friend was away. He knew that he could depend on you to be there...the only this is...you thought MORE of the situation than he did. Stay friends with him but don't do it with the intention of him becoming closer to you. Don't push...if it is going to happen, LET HIM MAKE THE MOVE not you.
