Using older Canon lenses on a new DSLR?

I went from having film Canon EOS to digital EOS 18 months ago and I used my old lenses but have upgraded them (they were only entry level lenses and now I have prosumer lenses). The problem I had with the 28-80mm lens is that with the 1.6x crop sensor a 28mm lens becomes very long and not all that useful for landscape shots but the images were fine.
